K–6 Student Dress Code
The purpose of the Immaculate Conception School dress code is to promote a neat, respectful, and distraction-free learning environment while keeping clothing simple, affordable, and easy for families to purchase. All items may be purchased from any retailer as long as they meet the guidelines below.
Shirts
Solid white or navy blue
Polo or collared shirt (short or long sleeve)
No logos, graphics, patterns, or writing
Shirts should be appropriately sized and neatly worn
Pants / Bottoms
Solid khaki or navy blue
Pants, shorts, skirts, or skorts
Traditional/basic fit only
No denim, joggers, cargo pockets, or athletic styles
Leggings may only be worn underneath skirts, skorts, or dresses and may not be worn as standalone pants. Leggings must be solid navy blue or black.
Modesty shorts may also be worn underneath skirts or skorts when appropriate
No holes, rips, fading, or decorative details
Sweatshirts / Layers
IC-approved school crewneck sweatshirt only
Must be worn over a collared uniform shirt
Hoodies or non-uniform sweatshirts may not be worn during the school day
Plain sweaters/cardigans in white or navy are permitted (no logos)
Logos are only permitted on approved IC sweatshirts, cardigans, and quarter zips
Shoes
Closed-toe athletic or tennis shoes, dress shoes
No sandals, slippers, or boots during the school day
Shoes must be safe for recess and PE
Seasonal Options
Uniform shorts may be worn during warm weather months (dates determined by administration). Skirts and skorts may be worn year-round. Leggings worn underneath skirts or dresses only must be solid navy blue or black.
General Guidelines
Clothing should be clean, modest, and properly fitted
No hats or hoods worn indoors
Minimal jewelry for safety
T-shirts worn under uniforms must be solid white
Hair accessories and appearance should not distract from learning
Clothing and accessories should reflect the values and expectations of a Catholic school environment.
Skirts, skorts, and dresses should be mid-thigh length or longer (approximately fingertip length when arms are resting at the student’s side).
Spirit Wear & Special Days
School-approved spirit wear may be worn on designated days (ex: Fridays or special events)
Occasional out-of-uniform or themed days may be scheduled by the school
Dress Code Compliance
Students who are out of dress code may be asked to:
Correct the issue if possible, or
Call home for appropriate clothing
Accommodations for students with sensory concerns will be made through communication with the administration.
Administration reserves the right to determine whether clothing or accessories meet dress code expectations.
