Our leadership team was grateful to host the Spring Teacher Luncheon—a small way to give back to those who give so much every day. Teachers had the chance to relax, enjoy a meal, and spend time visiting and socializing with one another—something that is well deserved this time of year. This luncheon has become a special treat as our teachers put in countless extra hours preparing for conferences. We see their dedication, and we are so thankful for their commitment to our students and families. 💛 #ICyourfullpotential

Monday, we lifted up those living with rare diseases and their families. We stand with them in compassion, support, and prayer, recognizing their strength and the incredible witness they give to perseverance and hope. Together, let’s continue to build a community where everyone is seen, included, and celebrated—just as God intended. 💙

In our Catholic faith, we are called to love, honor, and care for the elderly. They are not forgotten—they are treasured. Their wisdom, stories, and faith have helped shape who we are today. This week, our students put that love into action by creating heartfelt cards and letters in religion class for our loved ones in assisted living and nursing homes. Through simple acts of kindness, they reminded others—and themselves—that every person is seen, valued, and deeply loved. As a community, we are reminded that caring for our elders is not just an act of kindness, but a reflection of our faith. They are an important part of our Catholic family, and we are better because of them. ❤️

3rd Place!! 🏆Our IC 6th grader, Cedrick Docusin, landed in the final three contestants at the N.Iowa Spelling Bee last week! He battled through 64 intense rounds (40 rounds of the final three contestants) before he was eliminated by two 8th graders. Cedrick competed with two other IC students, Evee Knecht and Reese Patrie (and alternate, Ana Ngo), and were among 26 area students competing. We are so proud of our IC Scholars!

We are so grateful for our Dads at the Door crew! 🙌 Every Monday and Friday from 7:30–8:00 AM, these dedicated dads show up with smiles, high-fives, and words of encouragement as our students walk through the doors. It may seem like a small moment, but it sets the tone for the entire day—helping our students feel welcomed, confident, and ready to learn. Thank you to all the dads who give their time and energy to make our mornings brighter. Your presence matters, and our school is better because of you! 💙 #thankaKnight

IC Families,
Our school has been disinfected, and staff and students have had a day to rest and be apart. We’re ready to welcome everyone back as school resumes tomorrow at IC School.

Moving forward, surfaces will continue to be frequently disinfected, and students will be reminded of proper handwashing, hygiene, and healthy habits—especially when it comes to illness.

Students should be fever free without fever reducing medicine for 24 hours to return to school. Please email Mrs. Crook and Mrs. Field or call the school office to report their absence.

Thank you for your support and partnership as we work together to keep our IC community healthy and safe. 💙🙏

Blessings,

Mrs. L. Field

Important Open House Update

Due to a high number of illnesses in our IC School community, we want to help keep everyone healthy and safe.

Families interested in Preschool and Kindergarten registration may drop off registration materials directly at the school office rather than bringing children to the originally scheduled Open House.

Our Open House has been rescheduled to:
Tuesday, February 10
4:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.

We look forward to welcoming you then and inviting you to explore all that IC School has to offer our Preschool and Kindergarten students.

Thank you for your understanding, and we hope everyone stays well!

Blessings,

Mrs. Laurie Field, Principal

Mrs. Jody Osier, Preschool Director

Mrs. Carrie Shaver, Preschool

Open House Reschedule notice

Hello IC Families,

 School Health Update

To help stop the spread of illness, there will be NO SCHOOLat IC SCHOOL on Tuesday, February 3.

At this time, illness has affected 34.9% of our students and 28% of our staff. This break is an important opportunity for students and staff to rest, recover, and regain strength. Proper rest plays a big role in helping lower illness in our school community.

This pause will also allow our team to clean and disinfect classrooms and shared spaces for when we return to learning.

If your child is sick tomorrow afternoon and would be gone on Wednesday, we ask that you email Mrs.Crook and myself. ann.crook@iccharlescity.org and laurie.field@iccharlescity.org

Thank you for your understanding and support as we work together to care for the health of our IC School family.  Stay well!

Blessings,

Mrs. L. Field

NO SCHOOL announcement

Hello IC Families!

What a great week we had for Catholic Schools Week! Thank you for sharing your children with us.

Our Knights of Columbus are starting a new program called "Dads at the Door". "Dads at the Door" is a school-based initiative where fathers and male volunteers stand at school entrances to greet students with high-fives, smiles, and encouragement to start their day positively. This program aims to boost student morale, improve behavior, and strengthen the connection between families and schools. They will be doing this every Monday and Friday starting tomorrow, Monday, Feb. 2. They will be outside greeting our students as they come into the building.

Students will continue their FAST testing this week. A good nights rest and breakfast can help them prepare for the tests best, along with encouragement to do their best.

Have a great Sunday evening and thank you for choosing IC School.

Blessings,

Mrs. L. Field
